Q. A new muslim female is asking about the ruling of the niqaab?
A.The shaykh said it is permissible for the female especially in the presence of males and there is no doubt especially in the presence of males that this is better for her that she covers her face and nothing should be open from this covering over the face except the eyes. But with regards to, for example her making umrah or hajj when she is in ihram she should not wear the niqaab which is tied around the head and nor should she wear gloves. As during the state of ihram it is not permissible for her to wear the niqaab which ties around the head nor is it permissible for her to wear gloves. Then the shaykh mentioned, it is good for a new female that she is vigorous and diligent in trying to wear the Islamic attire, in trying to wear the Islamic legislated attire and she should try her best to implement the legislation in her life.
