Q.The question is; is it allowed to work with groups such as ikhwaanul muslimeen or the tableeghee jamaa’ah in matters of da’wah in the west where the muslims are few?
A.The shaykh (hafidhahullaah) said that we should be adamant about making our da’wah sincere and pure for the sake of Allaah azza wa jall and in making sure that nothing enters into the deen which is not originally part of the deen. If one were to co-operate with other groups it is as if he is saying that the course they are following is a correct course.
However, if one were to participate in some activities in order to call to islaam without actually joining that group and without being a member of that group, then there is no problem and the examples which have been mentioned are ikhwaanul muslimeen and the tableeghi jamaa’ah.
There is a new group which has risen and some people are calling to it, it is a so called liberal islaam group and people should be afraid when joining these types of groups and participating with them. Remember the ayah in which Allaah azza wa jall says;
‘You will not find a people who believe in Allaah and the last day, loving others even if they be their fathers and brothers and the likes, if they differ with what Allaah and His messenger teach with’.
So people should be afraid when they are joining deviant groups that they are obeying those that make a part of the religion which is actually not something which is part of the religion. They should be fearful and mindful of the hadeeth of the messenger (sallaahu alayhi wa sallam) when he said that any deed which is performed and it is not in accordance with this affairs of ours, he is not from amongst us.
